MLB legend Roger Maris was at the center of several newsworthy headlines this season while New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge was chasing the single-season home run record in the American League.
Maris held the record with 61 home runs in 1961, and the record had stood for over six decades.
Judge ultimately broke the record and now stands alone as the single-season home run king in the AL.
Judge may not be back in New York next year, but the Yankees will make a trip to Busch Stadium to play the St. Louis Cardinals, where Maris finished out his career.
On July 1, the Cardinals will be doing a special promotion to honor Maris, handing out free bobbleheads of the MLB legend to fans 16 or older.

Cards To Honor Yankees Legend
Maris wasn’t a household name in St. Louis and was better known for his time with the Yankees.
But with the Yankees in town, it’s a fitting touch for the Cardinals to do this.
Even if a player didn’t play in St. Louis for long, the organization and the fans constantly show appreciation for players who wore the Birds on the Bat.
Maris was a part of the Cardinals 1967 World Series championship team and was also with the club when they made their run back to the Fall Classic in 1968.
If the Yankees re-sign Judge and he makes the trip to St. Louis with them, it would make the giveaway on behalf of the Cardinals even more special.
Whether Judge stays in New York remains to be seen, but the Cardinals picked a good time to honor one of baseball’s best players.
